Prof. Fernand-Pierre Gendron
I am a biochemist specialized in the signaling by extracellular nucleotides. I am interested in the roles of the G protein-coupled P2Y2 and P2Y6 receptors and the ionotropic P2X7 receptor in intestinal epithelium functions in GI diseases and metabolism.
As a principal investigator, I've supervised the work of 7 M.Sc. and 4 Ph.D. students, three post-doctorate fellows, and a number of research intern undergraduate students. Most of the graduates from my laboratory are either continuing their formation or have jobs in the field of life sciences.
Aside from research and teaching, I'm a football (American) fanatic, coaching youth football. I also like hiking and cycling for which I'm trying to find some time.
